Frost Lake Magnet School is proud to have received a three year $60,000 grant to infuse the arts into education. Arts ABLE - (Arts Allies in Basic Learning and Excellence) provides funds for arts training for teachers, field trips, art supplies, and classroom based arts learning. We are honored to have such a professional, dedicated arts partner: COMPAS, Writers and Artists in the Schools (WAITS) to help us educate our students. This year, the following artists will conduct residencies in the classrooms:
. First Grade - Susan Marie Swanson - Poetry - April 26 to April 30 . Second Grade - Jan Elftmann - Sculpture Exhibit about "Our Community" will go on display Fri. March 5 at the Minnesota Children's Museum - Ms. Moudry and Ms. Mondry's students will attend classes at the Minnesota Center for Book Arts on May 7 . Third Grade - John Minczewski - Poetry, Feb 9 to Feb 13 . Fourth Grade - Soli Hughes, African Migration, African American Music and Civil Rights, March 15 to March 26 with a performance at 1:15 pm for parents and students in the school gym . Fifth Grade - Douglas Ewart - Jazz, Improvisation, Songwriting - May 24 to May 28 . Sixth Grade - Mick Labriola - Global Drumming - May 10 to May 15 . Learning Center - Cyril Paul - Carribean Carnival, Stories, Costumes, Arts and Crafts, with a school wide assembly on Friday, Feb. 13, 2004 . Music Department - Francis Kofi - African Drumming and Dance - Learning Center & Band students - April 5 to April 8, and April 12
